Integrity and Leadership Roast
2022 was the inaugural year for this event. This was a new idea created by a collaboration of community leaders. As I integrated myself into the community, there was an appreciation for the Gulf Coast Council, however, there was a demand to think of something unique that would not create donor fatigue. There had not been a roast in the Ft. Walton Beach area in fifteen years, so the community naturally became invested with this new concept.
This event is planning on becoming an annual event for the community while raising funds to support the Scouting program.
Jerry Pate Golf Tournament
Former PGA Golfer Jerry Pate hosts an annual golf tournament in Pensacola to help raise funds for Scouting. In 2022, the all time record was set as the Council netted over $50,000 for the event. 2023 will be Jerry’s 50th year hosting this event. We anticipate the event being completely sold out.
In 2022, this event saw nine new companies choose to participate in this tournament. Seven of the nine companies were completely new donors to the Gulf Coast Council.
Innovative Fundraising
Holt Sporting Clays Tournament
This event started small in 2021 with eleven teams participating. In 2023, we anticipate 22 teams participating. Out of the 22 new teams, over half will be brand new donors to the Gulf Coast Council.
To kick this event off, we collaborated with several community members as well as the owners of the Oaks Sporting Clays Range. This event continues to grow support including from the club members of the Oaks.
Golden Eagle Dinner in Bay County
Began a new event in 2022 to help target the community of Bay County. Bay County had not seen any significant fundraising efforts since 2018. 2023 will be its second year honoring an Eagle Scout born and raised from Bay County who is well known in the community.
This event is generating about $5,000 of new donors in Bay County. Bay County has not had a true community fundraising effort since 2017 before Hurricane Michael. The community is excited to see the restart of Scouting in the area.
