Innovative Recruiting with Results:

  • Ended an eight year Council membership deficit resulting in a 12% membership growth in Cub Scouts and 3% overall growth in 2022.

  • Achieved 18 months of consecutive membership growth from 2016-2018.

  • Through new recruitment strategies, provided leadership for several successes regarding youth enrollment (recruited). A few highlights include:

    • Ended a historical four year membership loss in 2016 by achieving 2.8% overall membership growth and 4.7% Cub Scout membership growth through a fourteen county Council one night sign up night. This included utilizing a robust but low cost marketing plan including geo-fencing, Facebook advertising, television advertising and radio advertising.

    • 56% increase in Cub Scouts enrolled in 2016.

    • 40.6% overall membership growth in the Exploring program in 2016.

 

Market Analysis and New Unit Project:

  • Developed a Membership Committee and re-introduced Scouting to the major school districts to re-gain school access.

  • Identified zip codes as a goal to increase local community density with existing units and new units.

  • Created a communication plan to explain market analysis results with current units as well as local community stakeholders.

  • 29.7% growth of new units in 2017.

  • 30.7% growth of new units in 2016.

  • Increased community densities to as high as 70% in several communities in 2016 and 2017.

  • Increased overall Cub Scouts Density to 26% and Scouts, BSA Density 16.6% in 2017.

  • Increased youth retention 6.7% from 2016-2018.

  • Saw a 95.2% retention of new units started from 2016-2018.

 

Creative Marketing Strategy:

  • Utilized marketing programs at local universities for cost/free marketing interns.

  • Developed a fall membership geo-fencing program resulting in an average of 1.76 million views annually from 2016-2019. The click through rates averaged 2.3%.

  • Used different media platforms (YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, etc.) to communicate and share information with families and local communities. Collaborated to create consistent and appropriate media schedules to engage families.

  • Utilized FREE e-mail services to create monthly communication to Scouts and leaders.
