Program Development
“New Beginnings” at Camp
Spanish Trail Scout Reservation developed a “new beginnings” concept and helped develop a new program that improved the overall experience of youth. The new program was launched in 2022 with much success and 2023 had more than 80% growth in attendance.
New Energized Winter Camp
Launched a brand new Winter Camp Program that takes place between December 26th-December 31st. In 2022, the Gulf Coast Council saw a 110% increase in attendance for Winter Camp.
With the positive feedback received, we anticipate a complete sell out for Wintercamp in 2023.
New Cub Scout Family Camp Program
With a new volunteer leadership in place, we saw a 25% increase in attendance by launching a new theme for Cub Scout Family Camp. The Gulf Coast Council also added a meal plan which reduced a barrier for new families to participate in an event at camp.
Summer Camp Attendance Growth
A research project, in partnership with Bradley University, was conducted to gather input on how to improve Ingersoll Scout Reservation facility usage. As a result, changes to marketing, staff development, program development and a new reservation system were made resulting in a 26% increase in unit attendance.
Day Camp with a Purpose
Through a day camp volunteer task force, a new day camp concept was created to allow parents to sign up Cub Scouts and non-Cub Scouts for a month of day camp in order to help with childcare needs. Each week of camp was themed differently, and in its first year, day camp saw an 8.5% increase in attendance.
Virtual Program
When COVID-19 shutdown the world, the Lake Erie Council pivoted Scouting to a virtual setting. Through combining resources with Field Service and Program, Cub Scout Virtual Adventures was formed. From Facebook Live Den Meetings to professional quality den meeting videos, Scouts had the opportunity to tune-in weekly throughout the pandemic.
