Quality Local Program
Celebration of Scouting
Re-developed the Council Banquet into the Celebration of Scouting. We created an energetic, fun, and fulfilling night for both our volunteers and staff. With the new format and location, we saw a 68.5% increase in attendance. We were also told by several that this was the best Council awards dinner they have ever seen! Plans for 2024 is already underway.
Advancement
Successful in the W. D. Boyce Council, Lake Erie Council, and Gulf Coast Council.
At each Council, we saw hundreds of Scouts attend. The Gulf Coast Council was able to provide Aviation Merit Badge with in-person flying. This event is anticipated annually and helps with youth retention and advancement.
Order of the Arrow
Yustaga Lodge #385 is a very active Order of the Arrow Lodge. There are over 350 members and each event averages over 150 attendees. Yustaga Lodge Leadership helps our youth have fun while completing many service projects for Spanish Trail Scout Reservation. In 2023, Yustaga Lodge is celebrating its 75th anniversary.
Yustaga Lodge is also represented at a National level with several youth annually serving in Section Leadership roles. Currently, two of the three Section officers are proudly from the Gulf Coast Council.
Families are Energized
Exceed Expectations
Exceeding expectations that have been set always adds to positive program. Delivering the promise is just the minimum standard set for a quality program. Exceeding the promise is what we all should strive for.
Pictured above is me delivering Ice Cream to our contingents at the National Jamboree. After a long first day, our contingent was energized and excited about the delivery of ice cream. It’s the little things that sometimes make the difference.
Servant Leader
Part of providing a quality program is to inspect the program yourself. You will find me attending various activities throughout the year. Unless requested, I tend to show up unannounced so that I can see the program in action.
